Churches of Christ Overseas Aid (COCOA)

Churches of Christ Overseas Aid (COCOA) is the relief and development program of Global Mission Partners. We work with vulnerable people in three continents, helping them to break the cycle of poverty. We partner with communities across the world in education, health, safe water, and livelihood initiatives.  We partner with indigenous civil-society organisations who are part of the communities that they serve, letting their aspirations drive our projects. COCOA projects are developed with, and implemented by, our partners around the world.  Our vision is to see our partners resourced and equipped to pursue their own aspirations and be agents of change in their own communities.

Tax Deductibility

COCOA has tax deductibility under the Overseas Aid Gift Deduction Scheme (OAGDS). Gifts to COCOA over $2 are tax deductible.

Sustainable Development Goals

On the 25th September 2015, world leaders adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and tackle climate change by 2030. These goals build on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which were adopted in 2000 and were the most successful anti-poverty movement in history. The 17 SDGs aim to end poverty, hunger and inequality, take action on climate change and the environment, improve access to health and education, build strong institutions and partnerships, and more. COCOA is committed to reaching these goals too.

Children, Families and Alternate Care

Children have a right to grow up in a family where they enjoy the consistent care and love of parents. Where this happens children have the best chance of thriving.  This is a biblical idea and also affirmed by the UN Declaration of  the Rights of the Child. GMP seeks the best possible situation for children in the programmes it supports. Read more

ACT Alliance

COCOA is a member of the ACT Alliance, a global alliance of church-based agencies working in advocacy, development and humanitarian work for a fairer world for all.  Where COCOA does not have a partner able to respond to a humanitarian crisis, COCOA often works through the ACT Alliance.

Australian Aid

Global Mission Partners is accredited by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Australian Government.  This accreditation requires a high standard of rigour in design, managing and reporting on development projects conducted by COCOA.  It also gives GMP access to some funding streams, in particular the Australian Non-Government Organisation Cooperation Program.
