Mary faced unimaginable challenges after losing her husband and dealing with the profound impacts of the 2013 civil war in Juba. This situation led her to struggle with alcoholism and supporting her children.
However, hope arrived when a group of evangelists knocked on her door.
Our church partners in South Sudan are dedicated to their local pastors, offering training, creating access to education for emerging leaders, helping children learn the Bible, and caring for the most vulnerable, including women, the elderly, and the sick, through counselling and pastoral support.
Paulino Malou, one of our international church partners in South Sudan, led a two-week training program in April on discipleship and evangelism. After completing the training, participants engaged in door-to-door evangelism in the villages.
Mary accepted Christ and, in April, was baptised at the new Maluooth Community Church.
Paulino is always eager to share inspiring news about baptisms. As a result of the evangelism, 14 new followers of Jesus were baptised along with Mary, adding to at least 72 baptisms this year.
Paulino has seen the spiritual needs of the communities firsthand. He is filled with faith as he shares his vision for increasing the number of churches planted in remote and border areas of his country. He wants to see more people come to know Jesus, just as Mary did.
Paulino joyfully shares that Mary is now an active church community member, receiving the support she needs: “She is now faithful.”
Thanks to your support of International Church Partnerships, our partners, Christian Mercy International in South Sudan, can continue providing evangelism and ministry training, establishing churches, and sharing the Gospel with others.
