Churches of Christ in South Sudan provide the internally displaced persons (also known as “IDPs”) and the wider community with a place to hear God’s Word and to experience love, hope and blessing.

The church partnership in South Sudan includes the Apanda Church of Christ, Marial Bai Church of Christ, the Aweil Bible College and providing a Chaplain for Emmanuel School.

The Apanda Church of Christ was established in late 2014. They meet in a grass mat building, and the congregation continues to grow. Their primary focus is to support internally displaced persons who are refugees or those returning to South Sudan from other countries after fleeing conflict.

The Marial Bai Church of Christ gathers at the Emmanuel School on Sundays and serves a growing number of adults and children from both the school and the wider community.

The Aweil Bible College offers a two-year diploma program and has been crucial in developing leaders in Aweil since the year 2000. The college trains pastors and evangelists, with several graduates now serving in government roles and as pastors and evangelists.

Our partner, Christian Mercy International, provides a chaplain for Emmanuel School. Pastor Butros fosters the spiritual development of the children through singing, teaching, prayer, and offering pastoral support to both the children and staff.

Pastor Butros

I am the Chaplain at Emmanuel School and the Pastor at Marial Bai Church of Christ.

Yournew

I became a devoted Christian while working in Khartoum, Sudan. I returned to South Sudan in 2001 after completing Bible College training. I now oversee Churches of Christ congregations in the counties surrounding Aweil.

Paulino

I have big dreams for my people! After managing the Emmanuel Children project for three years, I established Christian Mercy International a local faith-based organisation to coordinate more projects.
