Phil Chambers from the Aldgate Church of Christ in South Australia walked 500 km on the Walk the Yorke Trail to raise money for Global Mission Partners’ 2025 Easter appeal.
“I laced up my hiking boots, swung on my backpack (15kg). I predicted this walk to take me three weeks to complete, with two planned food drops, each seven days apart, finishing in Moonta just before Good Friday,” he shared.
However, this pilgrimage walk was not without its challenges.
“A few blisters, heel splits, lack of shelter and lack of water, but taking this journey solo gave me time to trust in God’s will, and I know that He was with me every step of the way,” Phil said.
The Bible verse Exodus 33:14 provided him with encouragement: “The Lord answered, I myself will go with you. I will give you rest.”
Phil was able to “revel in God’s creation.” He recalled one memorable experience: “sitting on a clifftop looking over the ocean while dolphins played in the waves, with majestic sea birds flying overhead while the sunset in a display of pure beauty. This all filled my heart with real peace and joy,” he reflected.

Completing the walk brought Phil closer to God and provided him with opportunities to share about Global Mission Partners with those he met along the way.
“By talking to people I met on the trail and while passing through towns, I received many donations to help with their work.”
Thank you, Phil, for embarking on this adventure and for supporting the work of our International Church Partnerships at Easter through your journey of hope.
