Churches of Christ in rural Bangladesh are located in a predominantly Muslim, Buddhist, and animist setting. While having little in terms of material resources, they have the courage, faithfulness, and compassion to care for the Mru people.

Churches of Christ communities began in rural Bangladesh in 2007. Since then, they have established 16 churches with over 700 members. The churches are located in marginalised communities with few resources. They are passionate about their community and help to provide education, literature materials, Bibles, and songbooks.

Church leaders and their families set an example for the surrounding villages by modelling Christian living, church outreach, and worship. Even with limited resources, such as Bibles and songbooks, members of the Mru communities are often baptised in groups of ten or more at one time.

Mru families are large and often live in traditional villages without electricity, with many Mru children growing up with little or no schooling. So, when a church is built in Mru villages, the building is also used as a preschool during the week for children in the village aged between five and twelve. At these preschools, the children are taught how to read and write in the Mru script, an important stage that prepares them for starting school at age twelve, when the only other option is to begin working in the fields.

Put compassion into action

Join like-minded Christians in a worldwide effort to bring justice, restoration, and healing to people who need it most by giving monthly.
