In April 2026, Global Mission Partners IMA program is hosting a discovery visit to experience the culture and faith of one of our Indigenous ministry partners, the Dareton Youth & Community Centre, located in Dareton, outback New South Wales.

You’re invited on this IMA immersion trip to explore the relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and communities, to listen, learn, and work together towards a reconciled and healed Australia based on God’s justice and mercy.

This trip offers a unique on-country experience with the Indigenous Christian leaders in the amazing Sunraysia region of Australia, located on Barkindji and Latji Lajti country (near Mildura), about a 6-hour drive north of Melbourne. The Dareton Youth & Community Centre is a faith-based program and long-term GMP partner with local Indigenous leadership involved. It provides a physically, spiritually, emotionally and culturally safe space for local Indigenous youth to do basic training, receive relational counselling and experience holistic transformation in a fun and engaging environment based on Christian values. The Centre has become a vital part of the community’s social connections, especially for the many children and youth in the area

The 3-day stay includes:

• Welcome ceremonies
• Cultural awareness teaching sessions
• Visiting sites of cultural and historical significance in and around Dareton, Wentworth and Mildura
• Campfire time with Johnny Cake making, singing and sharing
• Traditional games and art session
• Directed dadiri deep listening and sharing campfire time

Who

Church groups, leadership teams, study groups, or anyone looking to learn more about Indigenous culture, faith, and worldview in a relaxed rural retreat setting. 

Group sizes are limited to 15 people. (minimum age for participation is 18).

Travel

Attendees will need to arrange their travel to and from Mildura airport. All local transport will be provided, including airport pickups and drop-offs. If you are local to or within driving distance of Mildura and Dareton and don’t require an airport pickup, then arrangements can be made for you to self-drive to the Immersion location in Dareton, NSW.

Meals and Accommodation

All meals and accommodation will be provided. Accommodation will be at the Coomealla Club Motel in Dareton.
