Vanuatu Earthquake Appeal
Please support those affected by the earthquake in Vanuatu.
On the 17th of December, a magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck Vanuatu, leading to significant damage across the capital, Port Vila. Images emerging from the city show collapsed buildings along its main street and a landslide at its wharf. Further landslides resulting from the earthquake have also been reported.
A subsequent earthquake and tremors have added to the devastation. The death toll has risen to 14 (Red Cross), with hundreds injured.
Global Mission Partners launched the Vanuatu Earthquake Appeal in response to this crisis.
The appeal will support the recovery in Port Vila and the surrounding areas. We will focus on the greatest needs, which may include access to clean water and support for repairing or reconstructing community buildings. We will continue to work with our local partners, the Churches of Christ Conference in Vanuatu (CCCV), to confirm what they can implement.
