Jamie & Claudia Boland
Jamie and Claudia met in Sudan in 2004. Claudia served with The Leprosy Mission in the troubled Darfur region from 2000-2006, while Jamie served at Gideon Theological College from 2004. Married in Khartoum in 2005, the Bolands return to Australia in 2006 to start a family and for Jamie to pursue a post-graduate degree in ministry.
In 2009 Jamie joined the staff of Subiaco Church of Christ (their sending church) and commenced teaching at Harvest West Bible College. After several short-term trips into South Sudan, where Gideon Theological College had relocated, the Boland family moved there to serve full-time at the start of 2013.
In early 2014 they were forced to relocate to Uganda due to the current war in South Sudan. Jamie joined the faculty of Africa Renewal University where he serves as Academic Coordinator and lecturer of theology.
Africa Renewal University is a Christian institution whose goal is to transform Africa through equipping a new generation of leaders for the transformation of society. Today there are over 500 students from 45 different tribes in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Eritrea, Tanzania and South Sudan.
The Bolands have always felt a call to serve the church in South Sudan. Despite needing to leave the war-ravaged country, this call is still being fulfilled as more and more South Sudanese join the student ranks at Africa Renewal University. Through the generous gift of theology scholarships for those displaced by this war, the Bolands are now training more South Sudanese pastors than in their time in greater Sudan, along with pastors from Uganda and the surrounding East African nations.
