Antony's Story

Thursday, 19 May 2016

Students choose to study at the Christian Church Theological School of Indonesia (CCTSI) because of their desire to dedicate their lives to serving the Lord and to impact the lives of others. This commitment and the fruit of the Holy Spirit can be seen in Antony's Story:

While studying at CCTSI, Antony received a burden in his heart to share the good news of Jesus with the Sundanese of West Java: “I knew, as a Javanese person, that the Sundanese language is completely different from my mother language. But I was determined to learn a lot about these groups and their language”. Antony had an opportunity to go to West Java and work with a community development foundation. “The foundation trained me to live and work among the Sundanese and participate in activities as they do – many of them are farmers”, said Antony. Antony experienced a fire in his heart: “I would often cry during my prayer time because of the hunger for these people to know the truth”. When Antony first arrived, many people were unsure of his motives, thinking he would force them to believe in Christ, “but as I visited them often with my mobile library (books I carried in my backpack) many became more open. I even asked a key neighborhood leader to open his house for library books”. Antony experienced many barriers and difficult situations but God was with him: “A lot of prayers were answered and even miracles happened, more than I thought possible”. Now one of Antony’s main tasks is to recruit new volunteers and to encourage his brothers and sisters at CCTSI in evangelism.

Antony’s story is an example of how students are taking up opportunities and passionately sharing what Jesus has done for them. Despite the differences in religion or language, others are experiencing Christ’s transforming power in their lives.
