PNG

In 1958, Harold Finger and Frank Beale arived in PNG to find a site to commence mission work. At the invitation of the Tung people they started a work in their village. Other village stations were built later. In 1963 the first seven people were baptized. By 1972 there were just over 400 Christians along the Ramu and Keram Rivers. Today there are over 6,000 Christians in around 200 churches scattered along the Ramu, Keram, Sepik, Sogeram and Ywat Rivers in the Schrader Ranges and the land between.
In 1980, the Conference of Churches of Christ in PNG was formed to co-ordinate the outreach and services of the churches. Manis was the first Conference Chairman, a position he held until 1986. Committees of Conference include Evangelism, Christian Education and Youth Work.
More than 100 national pastors share the task of evangelism and church building. They are trained at the new Bible College at Gandep for two years and also attend at least one in-service training course every year after graduation. Some sacrifice a great deal for the Gospel.
We currently have missionaries from Vanuatu working in PNG. They are involved in training pastors, Bible teaching.
